What's The Difference Between Taped and Pull-On Diapers?

Types of Pampers Chart

Taped diapers (also known as "open diapers") have a front region, a back region, tabs, and diaper tape. This allows parents to comfortably lay baby down during diaper changes so that they can thoroughly clean the diaper area before connecting the two regions and fastening them together. Pull-on diapers are also known as "pant diapers." They already have the waist circumference and leg openings in tact (instead of needing to be assembled). This means they are shaped like underwear and can be stepped into.

What's The Difference Between Pampers Cruisers and Cruisers 360?

The Pampers Cruisers is an example of a taped diaper, while the Cruisers 360 is a pull-on diaper.

What Is The Wetness Indicator?

Pampers' wetness indicator is a color-changing feature that runs down the absorbent core of the diaper. It starts as a yellow line, but turns blue when wet. This way parents can conveniently observe the outside of the diaper (instead of opening or feeling it) to know if baby needs to be changed.

Swaddlers, cruisers, baby dry, and pure all have wetness indicators.

What Is The Difference Between Pampers Overnight Diapers?

Pampers offers 3 night-time diapers:

  • Baby Dry (infants)

  • Swaddlers Overnight (active sleepers)

  • Ninjamas (older children)

Pampers Baby Dry are successful at keeping baby dry, but Swaddlers Overnights are best at keeping active sleepers dry. For example, if your baby rolls over, you may prefer the Swaddlers Overnights, which are designed to stay snug during night time movements. Both Baby-Dry and Swaddlers Overnights are made to keep little ones dry up to 12 hours. Finally, Pampers Ninjamas are absorbent underwear for older children.

What's The Difference Between Pampers Swaddlers and Pure Protection?

Pampers Pure claims to not have any chlorine, fragrance, or parabens. They are meant for families that prefer more natural products. While the Pure diapers are well liked (especially by Amazon customers), very few find them to be more fragile. This means the tabs may break more easily, and the plant-based materials may make the diaper a little stiffer and less absorbent.

What Happened To Pampers Hybrid Diapers?

Pampers Pure Protection Hybrid Diapers seem to be discontinued. In response to parents wanting more planet-friendly diapering systems, Pampers launched a hybrid diaper that incorporates a reusable cover with a disposable inner lining. According to a Proctor & Gamble press release, Pampers hybrid diapers were introduced on March 21, 2021 and according to an Amazon customer, were discontinued by October 4, 2023. As of June 2024, trial kits are still available on Amazon. They come with 1 reusable cover and 13 disposable inserts for under $20.00.

If you're looking for a reusable diaper brand, Charlie Banana (CB) is also owned by Proctor & Gamble (Pampers parent company). Just a heads up, CB may run a little small and snap closures take a little more effort than diaper tape and pull-on diapers.

Which Pampers Have Elmo On Them?

Pampers Baby-Dry currently has Sesame Street characters on them. This includes Elmo, Big Bird, Abby, Cookie Monster, Oscar, and Ernie. Their Easy-Ups feature My Little Pony and Bluey. Their Pure line has Baby Shark. Pampers often collaborates with popular kid shows to make diaper changes and potty training more exciting. These collaborations periodically change, so you'll have to check in-person or online to see which fun designs Pampers currently has. Below are some of the strategic partnerships over the years:

  • Bluey (Easy Ups 2024)

  • Peppa Pig (2023)

  • Trolls

  • Thomas The Engine (Easy Ups 2016)

  • Dora The Explorer (Easy Ups 2016)

  • Hello Kitty (Easy Ups 2016)

Pampers also features original characters like Shiloh the Elephant and Freddy the Duck. Because these characters do not have their own programming, you or your little one may not be as familiar with them.

Which Pampers Are Meant For Newborns?

Pampers Swaddlers are specifically designed for newborns. They are known for their softness, breathability, and gentle fit, which help to keep a baby’s delicate skin comfortable and dry. Swaddlers also features a wetness indicator that changes color when the diaper is wet, to support parents in the rhythm of frequent diaper changes. Lastly, Pampers Swaddlers come with a contoured umbilical cord notch to protect a newborn’s sensitive belly button area, ensuring a snug and safe fit from day one.

What Are The Pamper Sizes?

  • Newborn (<10 lbs)

  • Size 1 (8-14 lbs)

  • Size 2 (12-18 lbs)
