Free Running Programs (For Boston Kids)

Does your child love to run? If your little one has a natural need for speed, you may want to check out the events and programs below.

Daffodil Dash (Spring)


The Daffodil Dash is one of Boston's newest races. It's a one-day event that typically happens in the spring. There are three different races by grade-group. The youngest being grades K-2 and the oldest being grades 6-8. There's also free entertainment for families after the race.


Boston Triathlon (Summer)


The Boston Triathlon is another kid's race towards the end of summer. Children as young as one can participate in a multi-sport challenge that includes a 100 yard dash, a 1k run, and a 100/200 yard swim.


Boston Running Collaborative (Summer)


Boston Running Collaborative hosts free meets for ages 4-14 throughout the summer. Runners are grouped by age and gender and everyone gets a ribbon after the event.



YES Kids (Year-Round)


Yes Kids offers year-round opportunities and accepts children as young as 6. Their cross county and track programs are free and typically happen at tracks in Jamaica Plain and South Boston. Children will learn track and field basics as well as compete in local and regional track meets.
