Using lots of love and gentle hands, here is our newborn hair care routine.
1. Removing Vernix
Most of this miracle cream (vernix) absorbed into her skin, but a few chunks remained in her hair after day one.
Using a fine tooth comb, I slowly and gently combed any remaining chunks. This took two days.
2. Daily Baths
We sweat a lot, so every morning and night we give her a refreshing bath.
Her first bath was on day two or three.
Since her belly button is still healing, we do not submerge her in water. Instead, we use a baby washcloth to wipe her hair down with warm water (no soap).
Using the damp cloth we gently lay her hair in the direction that it grows.
She usually gets cold when her hair is wet, so we use hooded towels for warmth.
3. Oil Hair
After her bath and full body massage, we rub a little bit of coconut oil on her hair.
That’s it.
