Homeschool Programs In (+ Near Boston)

We've gathered some local spaces where you may find homeschoolers.


Homeschool STEAM Team (Copley Library)


The Copley library regularly hosts a program for homeschoolers ages 6 to 12. It typically meets on the third Tuesday of the month in the Children's Library's Rey Room. Events should be listed on the library's website, so please check or call before heading out.


Type: Family-Friendly

Time: 2:00pm - 2:45pm

Days: 3rd Tuesday of each month

Location: 700 Boylston St, Boston 02116 (Community Meeting Room)

Home School Hang Out (Quincy Library)


Quincy's main library has a homeschool group that meets once a month. The group is for ages 5-13 and their caregivers. There is no website (that we know of), but you can find the event on the Quincy Library's calendar. We also noticed the group doesn't seem to meet during the summer.


Type: Family-Friendly

Time: 9:30am - 11:00am

Days: 3rd Friday of each month

Location: 40 Washington Street, Quincy 02169 (Community Meeting Room)

Price: Free





Aquarium Homeschool Days (New England Aquarium)


During the fall and winter, the New England Aquarium opens their doors to homeschoolers. There is a special rate specifically for homeschoolers on Tuesdays. Families can also get free passes from the library and visit any day they choose. The advantage of visiting on Tuesdays, is the higher possibility of bumping into other homeschoolers.


Type: Family-Friendly

Time: 9:00am - 6:00pm

Days: Tuesdays (September 3, 2024 and December 17, 2024)

Location: 1 Central Wharf, Boston 02110

Price: $12-$26 per person; You can also request free library passes for up to 4 people.





Artful Adventures (Museum of Fine Arts)


The Museum of Fine Arts offers in-person art classes for homeschoolers ages 6 to 18. Classes include a pre-tour activity, gallery exploration, and a related art lesson. The classes last 2 hours and are offered throughout the year in four sessions. For example, past sessions have started in January, May, and October. Supplies are provided.

Time: 10:30-12:30pm

Parts & Crafts (Somerville)


Parts and Crafts is a makers space for ages 7-13. It's a popular destination for homeschooling families as the program is largely "opt-in and child-directed."


Type: Drop-off

Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm Tuesdays and Thursdays; 9:00am - 12:00pm on Wednesdays

Days: Tuesdays through Thursday
