Remixing projects is a brilliant way to learn how to code. On Scratch, users can visit other people's projects and look inside to see the code that makes it all work. We found some pretty cool gaming elements in the Halloween-themed games below, and thought they'd be perfect projects to make your own.
1. Typing Parkour
Screenshot of Typing Parkour by kriblo on Scratch
Parkour is a hilarious sport, where runners try to quickly get to a desired destination. In the following game, the runner is a pretty nimble and acrobatic skeleton. Your job is to type the letters that appear on the tombstone, before the skeleton gets too close. Successfully complete this task and watch the skeleton elegantly jump over it. Fail and watch the skeleton do an exaggerated front flip/stumble to the floor. We love that the Scratcher used a sprite in the Scratch library and did some extensive work to make his movements look fluid.

3. Scary Choo Choo Chaos

Despite "scary" being in the title, the scariest part of this game is running the train off the track. Choo Choo Chaos is a maze-like simulator, where the player has to set down tracks to get the train from one side of the screen to the other. Similar to any journey there are obstacles like rocks, bodies of water, pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns. We found the 35 levels to be super impressive.

4. Ghost Castle

The following game is set in an abandoned castle where plenty of ghosts live. The game art is absolutely adorable -- from the decision to make the ghosts blue, to the color choice for the main character's cape, and the vignette overlay which simulates being in the dark. The fluid game animations are also impressive. For example, the ghosts float as they move and slightly bounce when they're hit. We're not the biggest fans of fictional violence, but view this player's bow-and-arrow as a form of self-defense.
