ABCmouse
ABCmouse celebrates Native American and Alaska Native Heritage Month with a video and three ebooks. Two of the ebooks are ABCmouse originals, which means they are only available on ABCmouse's platform.
One follows a young girl to a Navajo Powwow. Attendees wear traditional Navajo clothing, can shop for Navajo jewelry, eat fry bread and listen to drums.

The other story is about a girl named Ava who collects Native American dolls. She has a doll from the Seminole Nation, Seneca Nation, Navajo people, Ojibwe and an Inupiat hunter from Alaska. Images in the story include a dream catcher, a cradleboard, traditional Native clothes, a doll made out of corn, and a doll carrying a baby on her back.

One of the ebooks on ABCmouse is also available (for free) at the Boston Public Library.
We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga is written by a member of the Cherokee tribe who describes modern day life as a Native. The author reflects on Cherokee traditions throughout the seasons. You'll learn about basket weaving with buckbrush and honeysuckle, baby naming, corn-husk doll making, and cane flute playing. As well as traditional lullabies, sewing moccassins, building beautiful coil clay pots, and more.
If you want to delve deeper into Native American culture, here's a list of our favorite books celebrating Native people. They are also available at the library.
