Black History Month
This version of Harriet's story includes events we've never heard before such as her early relationship with her mother (so definitely check for historical accuracy). It also details her many jobs starting at age 6 as a muskrat catcher, to working in the woods where her father introduced her to the North Star. A year after freeing herself, Harriet returns South to free others. She also served as a master spy during the civil war, a community activist after emancipation, and a spokesperson for women's rights. In the end, this book is a great introduction to Harriet's story and does an excellent job capturing her drive and ingenuity.
